Overview
This program is intended for health and wellness professionals interested in a career in osteopathy. The DOMP study is a qualification in its own right. In Canada, successful completion of the DOMP leads to the designation of Osteopathic Manual Therapist (OMT). International students are awarded the designation of a manual osteopath, expressed as Diploma in Osteopathy (D.O.)
The program curriculum follows educational standards for TYPE II osteopathic training established by the following organizations:
- World Health Organisation “Benchmark for Training in Osteopathy”
- FORE “European Framework for Standards of Osteopathic Education and Training”
The program comprises two learning modules
- Module I – Preclinical Studies
- Module II – Supervised Clinical Training /Thesis

Program Structure
The DOMP program is delivered through two distinct modules: online learning/module I and hands-on training/module II. Because most of our students are busy professionals, we set no deadlines for the completion of the online portion of the program: self-paced format allows you the flexibility to combine studies with work and personal commitments.
Module I – Online Learning
The PRECLINICAL module delivers CORE OSTEOPATHIC KNOWLEDGE. Health science courses in anatomy, physiology, and pathology build a solid foundation essential for clinical work and any further medical studies. The DOMP curriculum encompasses osteopathic philosophy, treatment principles and manipulative techniques specific to osteopathy-based practice.
The learning material is delivered through lecture recordings, downloadable presentations, additional readings, and video tutorials. Students test their progress with online quizzes embedded in each learning unit. Course instructors are available for questions and support. There is no deadline to complete the online studies: students’ access to LCO’s learning platform www.studyosteopathyonline.com does not expire.

Module II – Clinical Training
This is where theoretical knowledge is integrated into actual practice in a supervised clinical setting. Students gain competency in their diagnostic and treatment skills working on real patients coming from all age groups and presenting a range of health conditions. A low student-to-teacher ratio allows for personal attention to each participant’s needs. Students are supported in the development of a treatment approach relevant to their specialization.
Submission of an osteopathic thesis is required to earn a Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice. The project involves a research paper on the integration of manual osteopathy into your current practice or specialty field. For more information please refer to the DOMP Outline available for download on this page.
